Sports Massage
A sports massage is usually focused on a specific area of the body to improve physical performance, minimize the
potential for injury and address chronic conditions due to overexertion or strain. The therapist uses a variety of
techniques that may include positional release, myofascial release, and stretches to improve/increase range of
motion at the joints. Pre-event sessions are vigorous and designed to “rev-up” and prepare for exertion during the
sport activity. Post-event sessions will focus on painful areas due to strains. The therapist will work to elongate
muscle tissue, which will encourage the release of toxins. Hot or cold therapy may be incorporated into the treatment
to flush the tissue and reduce pain. A sports massage may be 60 or 90 minutes long.
